Latest promotions at GB Birmingham
Written by Steve Fan

The Gracie Invitational proved to be the ultimate testing ground for GB Birmingham members. Following all the hard work, special recognition was given to the following who were recently promoted.

Rob Stevens promoted to Brown belt
Piotr Kapral promoted to Purple belt
Nathan Roberts to Purple belt
Luke Cole promoted to Purple belt
Paul Janu promoted to Purple belt
Chris Rawlins promoted to Blue belt
Wayne Farrington promoted to Blue belt
Sayid promoted to Blue belt

Also special mention to possibly the UK’s longest standing white belt, Rob Allen, was finally awarded his blue belt by Braulio exactly 10 years on from when he first started bjj. Rob was one of the original students of Mauricio Gomes in 1998 when lessons were first held in Birmingham’s Custard Factory. Rob lost focus on his training by concentrating on Wing Chun, but found his form in the last couple of years.

Rob has persisted for the love of bjj and his learning and clearly shown that he is not in it for a quick win in getting a belt. Well done Rob!

Promotions from Braulio Estima
Written by Steve Fan

Braulio very recently handed Kevin Webb his brown belt at GB Birmingham. Kevin is one of the UK's hottest talents, winning most, if not all the top domestic competitions at blue and purple level. The promotion was not before time and well deserved.

Also of worthy of recognition is Luke Cole who, again not before time, was finally awarded his purple today. Luke is a keen competitor and again is well worthy of his promotion. Both Kevin and Luke are regulars at GB Birmingham.

Two other purple belt promotions were also awarded on the same day in GB Walsall by Braulio - this time to Martyn and Kerry Cope (European and World Champion blue belts respectively). Both Martyn and Kerry run GB Walsall.

A great well done to all.

Written by kieron newton

Bill with title belt

Gracie Barra Newcastle fighter Bill Coultas stepped into the cage for his fifth (5th) MMA fight against featherweight (65.8kg) champion Michael O'Neil.

Bill put in another dominating performance with big takedowns and numerous elbows and strikes to the body in the first.  He opened up the second round much the same before turning his opponent and applying the rear naked choke for the victory.

This makes Bill 'DangerMouse' Coultas the new Pride and Glory featherweight champion and ups his record to a perfect 5-0.
